Mahindra USA Announces the 2012 Women in Ag Scholarship Winners

Mahindra USA, Inc. today announced the winners of its 2011 / 2012 scholarship program benefiting young women studying agriculture, the Mahindra Tractors “Women in Ag” Scholarships.

From almost 8,000 applicants, these four outstanding women were selected to receive merit-based college scholarships from Mahindra USA for use during the 2012 school year.  Mahindra USA is pleased to announce the following winners:

  • Laura Erbe from Altoona, KS will be a freshman at Kansas State University majoring in Animal Science.
  • Nicole Hood from Middletown, MD is a freshman at Delaware Valley College majoring in Agricultural Business Management.
  • Brooke Nation from Alva, OK will be a freshman at Oklahoma State University majoring in Agricultural Education.
  • Rebecca Lazenby from Midway, TX will be a freshman at Texas A&M University – College Station majoring in Agricultural Extension.

In partnership with The National FFA Organization, the Mahindra scholarship winners were chosen based on their passion and involvement in agricultural studies as well as their academic performance and leadership. “The scholarship winners’ hard work, dedication, perseverance and passion in pursuing their degrees in Agriculture are a true testament to the bright future that lies ahead. It is also representative of the Mahindra “Rise” culture and philosophy of Accepting No Limits, Driving Positive Change and Alternative Thinking,” said Cleo Franklin, Vice President of Marketing & Strategic Planning for Mahindra USA. “Our primary objective in supporting educational opportunities, such as this scholarship, is to help women bring their knowledge and skills back to their towns and communities, enabling them to Rise and make a positive impact in the lives of all stakeholders.

Every year, Mahindra USA teams up with the National FFA Organization to sponsor select young women involved in agriculture and their pursuit of furthering their education with a college degree.  “Mahindra USA is proud to partner with the FFA, and we share in congratulating these four very accomplished students. We are thrilled to play a part in assisting them and their families in furthering their agricultural education,” said Franklin.
