The Mahindra Max® compact tractors offer impressive maneuverability and performance, but one model will be the best match for your needs. Not sure which to choose? The following buying guide can help.
Below we break down key highlights from the Mahindra Max models. For more information or to buy an XL or XLT tractor, visit your local Mahindra® dealership.
Comparing the Size
The Max XL is smaller than the Max XLT tractor.
The XL tractor is 106.1 inches long, 50.7 inches wide, 81.5 inches tall, and has a 58.2 inch wheelbase. In contrast, the XLT model is 110 inches long, 54.3 inches wide, 84.3 inches tall, and has a 63.2 inch wheelbase.
Choose the smaller Mahindra tractor if:
- You have a smaller budget. Fewer materials go into manufacturing a smaller piece of equipment. It will cost less for the manufacturer to create, which helps keep the sticker price lower.
- You need to navigate tight spaces. It will be easier to pass through compact fence gates, move between crop rows, and so on with a less wide tractor.
Choose the larger Mahindra tractor if:
- You need better stability. The larger tractor will also be heavier. The extra weight leads to more stable equipment operation, which is especially helpful on unpredictable terrain.
Comparing the Lift Capacity
The XL has a 1,354 pound lift capacity. The XLT has a 2,315 pound lift capacity.
Think about what lift capacity best suits your operation’s needs. Be sure to take a long-term approach here. For example, if your business is rapidly expanding, you may want to choose the higher capacity model. You may not take full advantage of its performance just yet, but may be able to very quickly.
Comparing the Ground Clearance
The XL tractor sits closer to the ground and has a minimum ground clearance of 7.2 inches. The XLT model is higher off of the ground and has a minimum ground clearance of 11.4 inches
Tractors with high ground clearance can more easily pass over obstacles without getting damaged. If your terrain is full of rocks or other such debris, choose the Max XLT tractor.
Tractors with low ground clearance are easier to get in and out of. This is especially helpful for shorter individuals. If this convenience is a priority for you, choose the Max XL tractor.
Comparing the Transmission Options
If you prefer a shuttle transmission, the only option will be the Max26 XLT Shuttle. If you prefer an HST transmission, you can choose between the Max25XL HST and the Max 26XLT HST tractors.
